Biological Materials CLASS LENGTH: 2- 3 HOURS
CLASS SIZE: UP TO 25 STUDENTS PER CLASS

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Whether you are a professional Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Provider, or Volunteer First AID/CPR Responder, it is essential that you protect yourself from Bloodborne Pathogens. Training topics include:
  • Epidemiology of HIV & Hepatitis
  • Universal Precautions, Engineering Controls
  • Work Practice Controls
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Proper Handling and Disposal of Regulated Waste
  • Housekeeping
  • Immunization
  • A review of your companies Exposure Control Plan.
Course length is approximately 2 hours and is designed to comply with Cal OSHA §5193 and Fed OSHA .1910.130. DiPietro & Associates can also can develop your organizations written Exposure Control Plan (required by law) specifically designed to meet the regulations listed above.

Universal Precautions
  • You cannot tell who may carry bloodborne pathogens just by looking at them.
  • Usually no visible symptoms.
  • Many people who carry the infection without even knowing it.
  • It only takes one exposure to become infected.
  • ASSUME ALL PATIENTS ARE INFECTIOUS.
  • ALWAYS USE PRECAUTIONS.
